Okay, so he could stand to lose a few pounds. Let’s just say I couldn’t do up the bottom snap. But damn if this isn’t cute. Actually it was much cuter with the hood on and the antennae sticking out of the top of it, but he acted like the hood was trying to kill him so I took pity. And I may have pulled an abdominal muscle laughing as he shuffled backwards in circles trying to walk out of the thing. Some say it’s cruel, but I say looking good comes at a price.

A couple of my co-workers and I have been going to life drawing sessions on Thursday nights in an effort to get back in touch with our artistic roots. It's also been a great way to relax after a long day. Here are a couple of sketches from the last session. I haven't done this sort of drawing since school, so it's great to dive back into it again and refine my skills.

This is what I go through most mornings. Anyone who has a cat can relate to how real this is.

Today we launched the website for Lemon Park, a business run by two sisters who sell gorgeous hand-made jewelry. The brand was based on the work of a street artist who had been hand painting the Lemon Park logo on each and every bag they gave out; we refined the brand and brought it into the digital world, then took it one step further with its evolution into the web world.
My role in the site was the design & coding, with some Flash assistance from Cameron Lee. Credit for the fantastic photography goes to Sven Boecker. Oh yeah, and that's my handwriting in the page titles.

I don’t think that men should wear skinny jeans. Ever.

So it turns out there’s an unexpected side effect to limping for almost 12 weeks. I’m not really sure how to walk normally now. I’m out of the boot but even when my foot doesn’t hurt I still limp. I became so accustomed to walking in such a way that I didn’t put weight down on the front of my foot that I can’t seem to figure out how not to do that.

It was recently brought to my attention that my navigation is missing one thing. There’s no easy way to just get a listing of recent blog postings. The archives pages mix regular posts with portfolio posts (as it should), but for someone who just wants to keep track of what I’ve been up to lately, there’s no page showing only that. Therefore, I’ve added “blog” to the navigation, which is basically an archives page that excludes portfolio work. Now all my blog-type posts and quickies can be neatly found on one page for your viewing pleasure. I’ll let common sense win this time, but don’t get used to it.

I had completely forgotten about this, but a couple of years ago I came up with the perfect career for myself. With my drawing abilities and a Biology degree, it’s so obvious: I should have become an anatomy artist! It would be perfect for me actually, because I have a pretty anal attention to detail, a strong stomach and an ability to achieve extremely accurate realism in my drawings. My only question is, how the hell do you get into such a specific field?
I was reminded of it again when I saw this post on BibliOdyssey. There’s still a Biology geek somewhere deep inside me, and she loves anatomy drawings.
